Opening Night

Don’t you just love it when a plan comes together.

Pingsters Table Tennis Club set out on this journey of discovery just under two years ago, now it is abundantly clear that the Pingster ethos has spread far and wide and infiltrated the Sussex Table Tennis community in a way we could never have imagined.  The Table Tennis folk turned up in their droves to see what all the fuss was about, not knowing what could possibly be any different to any other community sports club trying to make their mark.  In any organisation regardless of ethos it is always the people that make that community either fly or faulter in the quest for stamping their passion in any discipline.  Pingsters TTC owe everything to its people.

The new tables arrived in all their glory.  Special thanks to Kris Pokowrowski and Jules White for their assembly skills, table tennis tables need human power and DIY skills to get them into a playable condition.  Jon Bird at Jarvis Sports has contributed to the incredible playing conditions at our new venue by providing us with 8 Donic Compact 25’ tables.  He’s also supplied 6 Butterfly Umpires Tables and 6 Donic Scorers that will enable us to cope with the workload of league matches, in house tournaments and maybe just maybe some Table Tennis England ranking tournaments.  Watch this space.  We now have loads of barriers.  Steve Pound at Table Tennis 365 provided us with some brand spanking new Andro surrounds.  It’s all kind of perfect.

The floor is a joy, no more slipping and sliding on school hall flooring.  The space is fully air-conditioned so we don’t all get too hot and sweaty.  The viewing platform gives spectators and players a picturesque view of proceedings.  The only snag is that we may not be able to accommodate the full scale of attendees wishing to partake in  the Pingsters Way.

Thanks again to Worthing Lions, Worthing Community Chest, GG Compactors, Sussex County Table Tennis Association, Worthing Table Tennis Association and finally the community of people who donated to our Crowdfunding campaign that enabled us to unlock a hefty grant from Sport England and The National Lottery.
