Pingsters Table Tennis Club Lands Lottery Funding

Pingsters table tennis club is celebrating after being awarded £2500 of National Lottery funding from Sport England to purchase 8-10 New table tennis tables for its rapidly growing following.

The grant will allow Pingsters table tennis club to provide a facility that will be a significant upgrade to their current set up.  The club only has a handful of tables all of which are over 30 years old and in desperate need of repair and revival.  Our club nights are usually oversubscribed with many players waiting to for a table to become free. THE NEW TABLES WILL BE OF A CERTAIN DESIGN THAT WILL ENABLE OUR WHEELCHAIR MEMBERS FREEDOM TO MOVE MORE EFFECTIVELY AROUND THE TABLE.  THE NEW TABLES WE TAKE UP RESIDENCY IN THE PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE AT DURRINGTON HIGH SCHOOL ON A PERMANENT BASIS.  OUR NEW HOME WILL BE AIR CONDITIONED, STUDIO GRADE LIGHTING, FULLY ACCESSIBLE AND EVEN HAS A VIEWING PLATFORM.

Pingsters table tennis club was born just 18 months ago.  In that time we have grown from a few players on a Thursday night to double digits two nights of the week. The club mainly serves an adult following who want to play table tennis in a relaxed and social environment.  We wanted create something that celebrated something more than just the beautiful game we call ping pong.  We wanted to create a welcoming sporting facility that encouraged the importance of community, not just burning a few calories but enabling table tennis enthusiasts to feel part of something meaningful and truly collective. IN OUR SHORT EXISTENCE WE HAVE PUT THREE TEAMS INTO THE WORTHING TABLE TENNIS LEAGUE AND MANAGED TO WIN THE DIVISION 1 TITLE IN OUR MAIDEN SEASON.  WE HOPE TO HAVE MORE TEAMS ACROSS ALL FOUR DIVISIONS AS A RESULT OF OUR INCREASED CAPACITY AND BRILLIANT NEW VENUE. TABLE TENNIS IS A POWERFUL SPORT TO ENCOURAGE FOCUS, CONCENTRATION, SPEED OF THOUGHT, AGILITY,  AND LOW IMPACT PHYSICAL ACTIVITY. WE ARE CONFIDENT THERE’S A MARTY SUPREME IN EVERYONE!

Pingsters table tennis club, is thrilled to have been awarded the funding:

“We are delighted to have secured this investment which means we can upgrade the quality of our tables and therefore find a bigger venue to create something truly special for the local community of Worthing.   Our new tables will provide our club with a fantastic playing facility and enable us to accommodate more players looking to enjoy a social evening playing table tennis” Thank you to everyone who plays the National Lottery, we wouldn’t be able to do this without you.”
